PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

All of our meetings were in the Retreat Center at Highlands.  After our opening welcome and announcements, we had an interesting ice breaker exercise with "Western Bandanas" in keeping with our meeting location in the Rocky Mountains.

Friday morning we were greeted with an absolutely magnificent sunny view of Mount Meeker - a 13,916 ft peak - from our meeting room windows.  We had to try to keep our minds on our work. Our Keynote address was given by Rev. Maulana who gave an overview of activities in Blantyre Synod.

On Friday, we enjoyed multiple presentations and discussions on Infrastructure in Villages, Shared Practices of Congregations, Development Projects and Empowerment Programs plus an expert's view on Malawi After the Elections.

We topped the program filled day with opportunities to enjoy the special place where we were meeting.  Many folks took advantage of an extended break period to hike a nature trail through magnificent wild flowers and a stream - despite a light shower along the way.  The evening was topped off with a magnificent sunset as we settled down for a sing-along of camp songs and a chance to enjoy "smores" - some for the first time,.

Saturday we heard from our PCUSA World Mission Co-Workers plus learned more about some of our partners in Malawi as well as Sustainability of Projects and about special areas of education in Malawi.  We finished with a discussion of Disaster Response from people personally involved.

The evening was topped off with a screening of the movie "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" .

Throughout the whole weekend we were enriched with very special worship services - both morning and evening.
