Rev. Levi Nyondo - Keynote Speaker for 2009

Pastor Levi Nyondo carries God’s message of Peace and Hope across the oceans to Malawi Mission Network.

Reverend Levi Nyondo will address the Malawi Mission Network (PCUSA), as the keynote speaker for its annual meeting at Simpsonwood Lodge, near Atlanta, Georgia, from August 13-16, 2009. For additional information or to register for the conference, See the Conference Description here.

Levi will be giving the keynote address for the conference, serving on several panels and leading the worship for the assembled Presbyterians who support mission and ministry of the Church of Central Africa, Presbyterian in Malawi, Africa.

levia.jpg (49055 bytes) Levi Nyondo was born in the Chitipa District in the Northern Region, where his Mother still lives. Levi is married to Ruth, a teacher, and the Nyondos have five children and one grandchild. Ruth is attending the University of Livingstonia, College of Theology, pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Ekwendeni Mission Station.

Levi became a teacher, briefly, after he completed his secondary education and teacher training college. Then he came to Zomba Theological College to earn his theology diploma and license. Levi served as a Pastor, Evangelism Committee Member and Moderator of the Bandawe Presbytery.

From 1995 to 1998 Levi attended Zambia University to earn his first degree. During 2000 and 2001 Levi served in a pulpit exchange program with the Church of Scotland, carrying God’s message to many European churches. During that time Levi was able to attend Aberdeen University. He later returned to Aberdeen University to complete his Master’s Degree in Practical Theology.

Later Levi served as Presbytery Clerk for four years in Euthini Presbytery.  In 2004 Levi became Pastor of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Mzuzu, the largest city in the Northern Region of Malawi. During that time he also served as Synod Moderator.

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is a covenant partner with First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City, Missouri, which has hosted Levi during a trip to the USA in 2005 and has encouraged Levi to continue his education. Levi is a part time student with a PhD program at the University of Malawi Practical Theology.

In August 2008, Reverend Levi Nyondo was installed as General Secretary of the Livingstonia Synod, Church of Central Africa Presbyterian. In that position Levi supervises the performance of Church program throughout the Northern Region of Malawi.

Before and after the Network Conference Levi will visit Olympia Presbytery, First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City, Missouri, Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery, Preston Hollow and Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Texas, Presbytery of Greater Atlanta, Myers Park Presbyterian Church in North Carolina, and the Northern New York Presbytery.

Levi is eager to return to the USA to continue to share the message of God’s joy and love with his brothers and sisters. “God’s love is abundant!”
